Facial Care Regimen

Why is it so important to have a facial care routine? Because all day long, dirt, sweat, germs, makeup and pollution get onto your skin. If you don’t take the time to clean your skin, pores can become clogged, leading to redness, pimples and a dull complexion. By following this simple, two minute routine twice a day, your skin can be clean, toned, moisturized and treated for any problems you need to address such as fine lines and wrinkles.

Daily Routine

Cleanse – Use a gentle cleanser made for your skin type. It needs to remove dirt without drying your skin. Avoid products that contain sulfates.  I use the oatmeal & coconut complexion bar or raw african black soap on a daily basis to maintain a clear complexion.

Tone – Toning helps to restore the pH balance in your skin and also clear away any dirt that your cleanser might have left behind. Look for toners that are alcohol-free. I use alcohol free witch hazel as a toner (available in store).

Treat – If you have skin concerns, this is the step in the process where you’ll use products specifically for those issues. For example, serums and eye creams are often used in this step to fight the signs of aging.

Moisturize – This is a critical step in the process. Moisturizing helps to form a protective barrier over your newly clean and treated skin, helping all of the nourishing ingredients in your targeted treatments sink deep into your skin. You may opt to use a lighter moisturizer during the day under makeup and a heavier hydrating cream at night. I use organic sweet almond and organic grape seed oil as my daytime moisturizer.  At night I use organic jojoba oil.

For your daily skin care routine, these are the only steps you’ll need to take, and it really does take just a couple of minutes at most.

Weekly Routine

Once a week you can add in additional treatments such as a facial steam, clay mask or microdermabrasion treatment. At the start of the week, I use a facial sugar scrub as a microdermabrasion treatment.  At the end of the week I use a detoxing clay mask.

In less time than it takes to make a cup of tea, you’ll look and feel better and your skin will thank you!
