Leave-in conditioners, daily moisture sprays, and hydration-locking products that keep natural hair moisturized, detangled, and manageable between wash days. The leave-in is the foundation of every LOC and LCO moisture method: it delivers water-based hydration that products applied after it can then seal in. Without a proper leave-in, sealants are just coating dry hair.
For low-porosity hair, choose lightweight, water-based leave-ins and avoid heavy butters and oils as the first layer, since they block water from entering a closed cuticle. For high-porosity hair, moisture-rich leave-ins with protein, such as hydrolyzed protein or silk amino acids, temporarily fill gaps in the cuticle before sealing. For coily or 4C textures, thicker leave-ins with slip aid detangling, or water-based sprays applied in sections give even distribution.
Apply to soaking-wet hair after rinsing out conditioner, distribute with fingers or a wide-tooth comb, and follow immediately with a sealant oil or butter.
